What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary

Many highlight the friendly and knowledgeable staff, making it a worthwhile educational experience. Some note the lack of an on-site gift shop, but recommend the nearby Michigan History Center as an alternative.
"Special visit for me, the 50th state capitol I have visited, a quest since ~1973. It’s heartening to see such a beautiful restoration, and some work still underway to replace/restore the translucent glass tiles of the rotunda floor. The paintings throughout are interesting and beautiful. We took the tour, which is one of the most nicely executed tours in any state capitol, starting in the relatively new underground visitor center with a film presented in the orientation room. Knowledgeable guide, and even a short presentation by a (former?) State Senator on the Senate floor. Michiganders should be proud, all should visit."

"Construction of the Michigan State Capitol building was completed in 1878 and houses the chambers and offices of the Michigan Legislature as well as the ceremonial offices of the Governor of Michigan and Lieutenant Governor.
Inside and outside of the building (and grounds it reside on) are beautiful and worth a visit. Staff is friendly. NOTE: They don't have a gift shop, but the Michigan History Center (a short walk away) has a real nice one.
For parking, recommend the South Capitol Ramp parking garage just a few blocks away."

"We had an amazing time here today! The guide/staff was super friendly and brought my parents a Chinese version of Capitol intro brochure 😊 Mom is especially happy! I learned a lot about Michigan history and how they spent tax-payers’ money 😂"
