What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Cowboy Trail Rides for its beautiful Red Rock Canyon scenery, friendly and knowledgeable guides, and well-cared-for horses and mules. The sunset rides and BBQ dinners are highlighted as particularly memorable experiences, offering a perfect escape from the Las Vegas Strip. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, a few mention minor concerns about souvenir photo quality.
"I had a great time at Cowboy Trails! The guides were super helpful and kind — you can tell they really care about both the guests and the animals. The trail itself is absolutely beautiful, with incredible desert scenery all around. About half of the “horses” are actually mules, and they’re wonderful to ride; sure-footed and gentle. The steak dinner afterward was delicious and came in a very hearty portion, perfect after a long ride.
This is a great experience for beginners, too! Just be honest about your riding experience level when you arrive; the guides do a fantastic job matching each person with the right horse (or mule) so everyone feels comfortable and safe on the trail. They also accommodate plus-size riders (300+ lbs), which is amazing and makes the experience accessible to more people!
I would definitely do this again next time I'm in Vegas."

"Riding Through Red Rock
– A Trail Between Private Land and Public Forest
We landed in LA(@losangeles) from Korea just yesterday and drove straight to Las Vegas(@vegas), checking into our hotel around 2 AM. Despite barely sleeping, my wife and I woke up early to catch our horseback trail ride at Red Rock Canyon(@redrockcanyonlv), departing from the Flamingo Hotel at 7:30 AM without even grabbing breakfast.
This ride had been reserved three months in advance. The place is called Cowboy Trail Rides(@cowboytrailrides_), located just outside of Las Vegas. The trail begins on private land and leads into the vast public lands of the Red Rock National Conservation Area. And incredibly, we were the only two riders enjoying a completely private tour. My wife rode a gentle giant named Cadillac, and I was paired with Slim Jim: a tall, calm horse that carried me with ease through rocky paths and desert terrain. Our guide, Danish, was not only a skilled rider but a storyteller. As we climbed cliffs, descended ridges, and trotted through Joshua trees, she shared insights about the local flora, geology, ancient fossils, and wildlife. It wasn’t just a ride it was an educational journey through the heart of nature.
We spotted jackrabbits, touched million-year-old stones, and rode under towering sandstone cliffs, all while immersed in the stunning, almost surreal scenery of Red Rock. This wasn’t just sightseeing it was communion with the land.
What touched me most was how this experience blends private stewardship with public natural treasures, forming a kind of “forestry tourism” that’s deeply meaningful. I couldn’t help but think how beautiful it would be if we had more of this in Korea horseback riding as a medium to explore forests, learn ecology, and reconnect with nature.
More than leisure, this kind of tourism is a bridge between people and the environment a path worth building, together."

"The Sunset Trail Ride and BBQ dinner tour was incredible! The staff were friendly, helpful, and very engaging. The horses were the stars of the show- they knew exactly where to go and what to do. That was helpful since our group are novice riders. The scenery was unmatched. Hats off to Denise, Logan, and Jorge for being the best wranglers!"
