What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Tropicana Las Vegas, a historic hotel and casino, has permanently closed and is undergoing demolition. While some guests fondly remember its unique tropical theme and attentive service, particularly in its suites, others noted its dated condition and declining amenities prior to closure. Its closure marks the end of an era for a classic Las Vegas landmark.
"Well, I have to give it to them—this hotel really blew me away. Literally. After a long, exhausting day of travel, I arrived at what was supposed to be my sanctuary, only to find that the hotel had been imploded earlier that morning. I guess they wanted to surprise me with their “open concept” design.
The check-in process? Non-existent. The room? More spacious than I could have imagined—mostly because it didn’t exist anymore. However, the fresh air and the new skyline views of crumbled concrete were quite stunning.
On the plus side, parking was a breeze—there were no walls to worry about, so I could park anywhere! The staff was also easy to find… well, pieces of them anyway (no worries, they were on break during the demolition)."

"The stay at this location was on 10/3/2024. My wife and I chose this location due to the proximity to the airport; we had a 0500 flight out the next morning.
After we dropped our bag's off in the room; we went to lunch and dropped off the rental car. Once we returned we took some time to relax for the next morning flight. We had not been resting for more than 30 or so minutes when we heard a very loud bang in the room next to ours. Then a child crying and whaling; it may have seemed the child may have been thrown up against the wall several times. I opened our door and another guest asked myself if I have heard the commotion going on in the room next to ours? Yes I did to the guest. I was going to contact the front desk or 911; in case of any injuries'. When I went back into our room; my wife was very shaken and upset about what had happened. At this point we may have occupied the room no more than 2 hours. To calm my wife, we moved to another hotel.
After moving to another motel and getting my wife settled and secured in the room; I went back to Motel 6 to turn in the key-card into the front desk. The desk clerk offered to move us to another room; but my wife did not want to stay due to the incident.
When I got back to the new hotel I called the customer line of Motel 6; the agent was very understanding, and would work to get our funds refunded. Well I got a call later in the day from the manager "Debbie" who was very rude and short with myself, and would only refund 50 percent of the price of the room (which we were in the room no more than 2 hours). And she accused us of using the shower. which we did not!!!!!
* Do not stay at this location; there were liquor bottles, beer bottles, trash that was lying around, and homeless people hanging around (which is a big problem for Las Vegas). The door to the room was so ill fitted I could see the sun through the jam of the door (not a very secure door).
THIS IS NOT A SAFE LOCATION TO STAY AT FOR A FAMILY!!!!!!!!!!"

"This hotel was a joke. Let’s start with the outside. It was completely dilapidated, with paint peeling, the window shutters falling off, tiny windows, making the rooms, dark and drab. Zoom in on my photo. Those windows are not open, it is the outside covers falling off. The rooms were outdated and smelled musty from years of cigarette, smoke liquor and possibly poor cleaning. The mattresses were comfortable and the sheets were clean. The shower barely trickled out. The obsolete wooden slats over the windows made the room devoid of light. They were thick and heavy, and would stick when we tried to open them. The staff were rushed. When we asked questions about places to eat or Hilton Honors, since this is a Hilton affiliate hotel, they had no clue what we were talking about. Most spoke little English. One staff member said they would bring up, a blanket and some water bottles so we didn’t have to come down and get them, nobody ever came. Many of the restaurants inside the hotel were closed, or had strange hours. The pool was closed the entire time we were there, which we were never told. Be prepared for a long walk from the front desk to reach the elevators for your room. At least the elevators were fast. The hotel is located at the very far end of the strip. It has no shuttle from the airport and the monorail doesn’t come to Tropicana. This hotel may have been amazing back in the 50s and 60s, but now it is a thing of the past. Luckily, it is up for demolition next year. We found out that the price we paid for this room was equal to the room price of quite a few other hotels."
