What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors and alumni praise the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for its beautiful and well-maintained campus, offering a peaceful escape with scenic pathways and vibrant spring blooms. However, some graduates express concerns about job market competitiveness post-graduation and the value of certain degrees without additional certifications.
"I just got off the phone with an employee who advised me to escalate the issue to the Rebel Success Center. I was also told not to register for the payment plan because it would result in a 10% late fee and I did the wrong thing setting up a payment plan. As a veteran who is also using ch 35 as a spouse, I have a code on file that should prevent late fees. This is all new information to me, and the lack of clear communication has been extremely frustrating. As an alum who completed my undergraduate degree here and is now in graduate school, I expect better — frankly, this has been the worst customer service I’ve experienced.
It may be time to consider hiring new staff in the cashiering department."

"I recently came across a student organization on campus (IUBA). After researching, I learned that this group is affiliated with the World Mission Society Church of God, which often operates under different names (such as Elohist Bible Club, We❤️U,and ASEZ).
I am deeply concerned about how these organizations are allowed to recruit young students at UNLV. While I understand the importance of freedom of religion, I also believe the university has a responsibility to ensure that student organizations meet stricter requirements and are transparent about their affiliations.
As a parent of a freshmen, I worry about how my children can feel safe if they don’t know whether they’re being approached by a legitimate faith-based club or by a group that may engage in high-control practices that take excessive time and resources from students. I urge the university to review its policies regarding student organization approval and recruitment practices to better protect the UNLV community."

"I graduated at UNLV, but my job opportunities did not improve at all, as I matter of fact, I make less than when I had no degree, and now I am in debt. For some degrees employers want and value certifications more, which will require more school, time and money investment, in which case you'll be better off not going to school at all and just get certified. I have applied to hundreds of jobs with no end in sight. Our system does not protect students, for instance Hospitals wouldn't hire a nurse without a degree or some type of certification, right? Why wouldn't other industries do the same? Financial institutions or banks prefer to hire anybody without a finance background so they can pay bare minimum wage, applicants with a finance degree or accounting won't necessarily get you a job, so why get a finance degree or invest in any education at all? If financial institutions were required to hire degree holders, then students will be motivated to get a degree and school for sure would have more registrations, same rule could apply to other industries. Students would be encouraged to invest in education since they would be more likely to be hired, and of course employers would at least pay a bit better for more qualified employees."
