What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Leawoof Dog Park is largely praised as a clean, well-maintained, and appropriately sized dog park with excellent amenities like a separate small dog area and a paved walking loop. While some visitors note occasional mud in the small dog section and a desire for more seating, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with friendly dogs and attentive owners contributing to its charm.
"Paw-sitively a Hidden Gem 🐾🦌
Shhh… don’t tell too many people, but this dog park is a total gem! Super clean, just the right size—not too big, not too busy, just right for a stress-free romp. The agility course? Total pup playground heaven. Bonus points for the deer sighting—we thought we wandered into a nature documentary. 10/10 tail wags. We’ll be back with treats and zoomies."

"It is so nice to have a separate area for small dogs. Appreciate the parks folks thinking ahead and including a trash bin and poop bags in the middle of the area. There's only one bench in the small pup area and it's at one end (near the entrance). Since the space is long and narrow it would be great to have another seating option that isn't at the end. There is also a low spot in the ground right in front of the only bench so there's a mud puddle in front of the only seating option. The water drinking option is good but was turned off for winter season; probably not a way around that. Even without recent rain, the little pup area was VERY muddy in December. Since this area is downhill from the enormous large dog area, it'll probably never be NOT muddy. Restrooms are quite far from the pup park.
The biggest 2 things for Leawood to improve in order to get a 5-star from me would be at least one more bench and better drainage. A bonus would be to increase the space for small pups to include some of the space uphill where the ground is already less wet."

"Overall nice park and great location. A paved loop inside of the park was recently added and is very nice, it's great to walk around while my dog is running around playing. The dogs here are great, very friendly, social, and respectful towards other dogs. The owners are great at keeping an eye on their dogs and their activity. Some are so great that they get upset when their dog comes over to me to say 'Hi' or if I greet their dog. Particularly I notice this when I greet the dog first, not the owner. Some owners make attempts to keep their dogs by them, within a small area of the park, and/or away from me. They have made comments that they don't want their dogs by me, they don't want me by their dogs, and they don't want my dog near them or their dog. It makes me wonder why then they come to an off-leash dog park. I feel discrimination against me and my dog, she is a black dog. The park should be open to everyone and everyone should feel welcome there, regardless of the color of their dog. People who use the trail outside of the park are not great at picking up their dog's poop. It's gross."
