What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the Legacy Trail's well-maintained paved surface, scenic beauty, and abundant wildlife. It's a highly recommended spot for biking, running, and enjoying nature. Some concerns have been raised regarding parking availability and the presence of homeless individuals at certain trailheads.
"We really enjoyed the Legacy trail. We started our ride at the Historic Train Depot. We parked right under the bridge. Parking is limited but we didn't have trouble finding a spot. We took the trail north to the end. We stopped in Sarasota for lunch at Der Dutchman. Called ahead our carry out order. It is a quick stop off the trail, then we hopped back on and sat at the next rest area (Phillipi Creek) to eat. It worked out perfectly. With the added stop for lunch, stopping along the way to see the wildlife and taking a ride through Payne Park the trail took us a total of 4 1/2 hours (out and back)."

"A peaceful park with a mix of paved and unpaved trails, perfect for walking, running, and enjoying nature. Scenic views of the pond and interesting historical remnants make for a unique experience. Some areas can be muddy after rain. dog friendly!"

"Loved the trail, all paved so good for any type of bike, I chose a road bike. There is a mix of shades and open areas so better to ride early morning but I started at 10am in August and got lucky it wasnt too hot, just hot, lol. There are few water stations so should be able to refill. There is a number of road crossings but felt very safe with lights and cars always slowing down and giving the riders right to go. Saw only one larger turtle but I'm sure if you were to stop and look you'd see more fauna if you're into that, I only stopped to snap few pics and for water break. Enjoyed this ride very much and hope to repeat next time I'm in Venice."
