Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Distillery District for its stunning historic architecture, vibrant atmosphere, and diverse offerings. The James E. Pepper Distillery tours are highlighted for their informative and engaging nature, with guides often receiving commendations. While the district is a popular destination, some find the tours to be typical and the area can become very crowded, especially during peak seasons like the Winter Village.

"Great tour, informative and fun. Will, our tour guide, was funny and kept the tour flowing and lots of cool information. We tried the mash and the high wine which was a wonderful to try the different levels of distillation. The bourbon and rye were delicious, great product with an incredible history. Highly recommend scheduling a tour and tasting, you won't regret it."

Rachel Bentley

"We visited this distillery a couple of weeks ago. Kira was our guide and did a great job. The tour was informative and Kira was knowledgeable. However, the tour itself was pretty typical and didn’t really stand out from other tours we have went on. They do have a new(ish) outside Bar called Ella’s Patio Bar so even if you don’t do a tour you can still partake in their bourbon. I believe the hours of Ella’s is limited."

Amber Gray-Kurz

"If you love history, this is your tour. Pepper is a small craft distillery. This was our first tour and I’m glad it was. It is not overwhelming. If you get the amazing Kaylee as a guide, you are going to get a thorough understanding of the process from the grain selection to the end product. Also a great story that is over 200 years old. Kaylee set the bar very high for all our other tours through KY."
