What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Cathedral of the Risen Christ to be a place of vibrant community and spiritual depth, appreciating its unique 1970s modern architecture and stunning abstract stained glass. However, some find the building's aesthetic unconventional and note the consistent chill inside, even in summer.
"My wife and I visited recently for a sister friend of our’s perpetual vows. The community here is vibrant. The church structure is very unique in that 60s sort of quality. I particularly liked that it still remains cruciform and still has a strong traditional base. The stained glass is stunning! The unique shape of the windows combined with the pour concrete designs allows for a meditation of one’s faith in the abstract portion of the mind. Another unique feature that I both liked and disliked is the choir is seated behind the altar behind a screen. This for the choir creates a sort of separation from the faithful, while simultaneously prevents the performance attitude that choirs sometimes develop."

"Home parish since childhood which has been instrumental in guiding me in faith and my source of consolation in happy/sad times. Please note to any potential visitors: AC tends to run from April to November so bring a jacket (seriously)....even during the summer. It gets quite chilly 3/4's of the year. Adoration chapel is not accessible for anyone using a wheelchair, walker...or possibly a cane. No accessible confessional but priests are very accommodating for arranging confessions outside of traditional confessional."

"Priest was solid. Mass was reverent. Hymns were traditional. I would definitely consider this parish.
But the building itself is ugly. It was obviously built in the 70s. I could see nothing of Our Lords passion (not a crucifix in sight) accept for the stations. The acoustics are terrible. Whoever designed it seemed to be out for vain glory, in my opinion."
