What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Hutchins Street Square as a vital community hub, highlighting its clean, well-kept facilities and the welcoming nature of its staff and security. The venue's historical charm, particularly in spaces like Kirst Hall and the Lange Theatre, is a significant draw, offering a unique atmosphere for a wide range of events from movies to performances. While generally positive, some reviews touch on the historical context of the building's origins.
"I’ve been coming here for years whether it was catching a movie night, attending a performance, or even working in the building itself. It’s one of those spots in Lodi that really brings the community together. The space is clean, well-kept, and the grounds outside are nice to walk through or relax in before or after an event. Everything is easy to access and the people running it are usually helpful and welcoming. It’s got that local charm while still being a pretty legit event center. Always happy to return here."

"Contrary to the previous reviewer, you can rent a room and offer a class. You would just have to actually rent it, and they may choose not to advertise it as it is not their class. The halls are beautiful especially Kirst hall and patio. Also check out the Holtz room which also has an amazing patio. Holtz was renovated last year and looks amazing. The Charlene Powers Lange Theatre is awe inspiring, one of the nicest I have been to. Near the classrooms there is a hall with busts of famous composers. They offer a summer music in the park concert series free to the community. They also have some pretty cool programs.
This facility was originally a high school until it burned down. The story I was told by a former student was that the arsonists were worried that they would not be allowed to graduate. They broke into the admin building and in the process of burning their school records; they lost control of the blaze and burned down a good portion of the school.
My understanding is that Kirst was the old gym. Crete kitchen was possibly the cafeteria. Lange Theatre was the auditorium but the stage was on the opposite side of the building."

"Very nice local park and recreation/ event hall area. Located in a simple area surrounded by scenic housing, the center itself is large with multiple rooms for events and as well as a heated pool on second story. This center hosts many events and camps for kids. Ample parking on both sides of the center and security as well. There is a full childs playground as well on the property and basketball courts."
