What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Gumbiner Park is a public space with a skate park and playground, but its current state is heavily impacted by a large homeless encampment. Visitors frequently cite safety concerns, lack of amenities like restrooms, and general unsanitary conditions, leading to disappointment and a feeling that the park's potential is being wasted.
"This NEW park is going to need a lot of social and public works assistance. It now houses homeless during this pandemic, ALL homeless need social services and solutions. Tenting in a public park is not it. Please resolve to keep it a park for families, children and all. NO bathroom on site so you can imagine. This is NOT transitional housing."

"Update from 3 years ago. It is still a homeless encampment. At present 6/29/24 there are 16 tents and probably 30 individuals. Plenty of garbage as well. I have no idea where all these people that live there go to the toilet as it appears there is none on the site. Do not send you children here to play. Today there was a shooting on 6th next to the park. Not a safe place for anyone except our politicians. Sorry no pictures. It would be dangerous to try to take one."

"During the grand opening & ribbon cutting ceremony, this park was touted by Mayor Garcia as a space for families to gather and children to play. Well, it's full of trash, shopping carts, debris, tents, urine, smell of marijuana and homeless people. Sad, the community deserves better."
