Reviews Summary
Escape rooms in Los Angeles offer a wide range of immersive experiences, from thrilling horror themes to intricate puzzle-based adventures. Many venues boast high production quality and engaging storylines, making them a popular choice for groups and date nights. However, some visitors have reported issues with inconsistent game master quality and challenging parking in certain downtown locations.
"I’m part of a group that partakes in about 5-10 escape rooms a month. We go to various companies and locations across Los Angeles. Last night (10/12/25) we did both Here, Kitty Kitty (new room for the location) and Black Dragon.
Here, Kitty Kitty is a really fun and entertaining room. There are a lot of puzzles to work through with varying difficulty, and the story is cute. For a low tech room, the mechanics were really solid and we left very satisfied with the room.
We then did Black Dragon, and this may be the best room I’ve ever done (out of 50-75 total). Black Dragon has everything one could ask of an escape room. The production value was fantastic and immersive. The puzzles were fun and challenging. The story was interesting and the room was probably one of the largest in size and scope I’ve experienced.
Miles was our game master for both and he’s fantastic. It seems as if he really loves his job, and having his involvement (without any spoilers) was also a lot of fun.
The only downside is the location, given that it’s Downtown with limited parking options and not the cleanest or safest area. When getting there I was hesitant because of the location, but was pleasantly surprised by the building, the rooms and the staff. A+ and am looking forward to going back to partake in the other rooms we haven’t done yet."

"Super fun escape room thats worth the price point. I had a $20 off coupon so each person in my group of 5 paid $42. The production quality is top notch, they really knew how to design the set.
Parking can be a bit of a pain. We just opted for joe’s parking lot down the street and paid a flat fare of $20."

"I went to Escape Room LA twice in one day (7/9/22) to celebrate my birthday. We did The Pyramid room and Atlantis. The rooms were well put together and it was good for my larger groups cause there were multiple puzzles you could work on at the same time.
We had a great experience with The Pyramid room. The game master was engaging and we got lucky with some guessing so after we escaped, he offered to explain the puzzles we didn't quite fully understand. I left excited to come back for the next one!
BUT... later in the evening, we came back for Atlantis. The game master had a bad attitude from the very beginning. She glared at us as we walked through the front door, she was rude the entire time, and made the experience unanimously awkward & uncomfortable. She never told us if/how we could ask for a hint and it wasn't until near the very end when I found her standing in the first room on her phone. When we finally asked for a hint, she refused with a snarky remark. Compared to all other escape rooms I've done in the past, she was the WORST game master by a long shot. We escaped, no thanks to the host. I understand people have bad days but looking at the past reviews, it doesn't seem like this horrible service is a one off. I think everyone that had their experience ruined by this lady should get a FULL REFUND. She made the overall experience a waste of money and a waste of time.
If we didn't have such a great time doing The Pyramid room earlier in the day, I would've rated this place zero stars if I could. She was the BIGGEST DOWNER to my birthday celebration and if I had known we were going to have such a horrible host, I would not have chosen to come back. I wouldn't return to this establishment unless I could be guaranteed that she wasn't our game master."

This focus on immersion means you'll find rooms with elaborate props, atmospheric lighting, and sound effects that enhance the overall experience. Whether you're facing a zombie apocalypse or exploring a haunted hotel, the goal is to create a believable and engaging environment. This trend is driven by the desire for unique, interactive entertainment that goes beyond traditional movie or theater experiences.
When choosing an escape room, consider what kind of immersion you're looking for. Reading reviews and watching TikToks can give you a good sense of the atmosphere and theme before you book.
Navigating the LA Escape Room Scene: Tips from the Community
When it comes to gameplay, teamwork is crucial. Rooms are often designed for a specific group size, and having the right number of people can make a big difference in solving puzzles efficiently. Some reviews highlight issues with broken props or malfunctioning game elements, which can detract from the experience and make escape more difficult. It's advisable to report any such issues to the game master promptly. Additionally, understanding the hint system is important; clarify how to ask for hints and how they are delivered to avoid frustration.
Finally, be aware of the location and parking situation. Downtown LA venues, while offering great rooms, can have challenging parking and may be in areas that feel less safe. Planning your arrival and factoring in parking costs is essential for a smooth experience.
