What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Delusion offers a highly immersive and theatrical horror experience with impressive production values and skilled actors. While many praise the creativity and scares, some find the performance duration too short for the high ticket price, leading to mixed feelings about its overall value. Despite this, it's frequently recommended for its unique approach to Halloween entertainment.
"Over-hyped and Over-priced! A friend of ours invited us to join him for this. He had gone last year and raved about it. I couldn't believe how much it cost, but so long it provided the value, I was okay with it. Unfortunately, it did not! Was it fun? Yeah, definitely. Was it worth over $100? Hell no! The website talked about it being around an hour in length and recommended you give yourself an additional hour before/after because there would be a big something that was an extension of the actual "show" for you to enjoy. But the only thing there was here for before/after the show was a bar. Just a normal over-priced drinks bar. I wish we hadn't gotten there early because they were running 30ish minutes late so we ended up just sitting on a sofa surfing our phones for an hour or so waiting for our turn.
The interactive performance is pretty great. The actors are all excellent. The story, at least this year, was okay, but not great - I mean it was very abstract and didn't make a lick of sense. But it was fun to sort of "be a kid again" and just go with it and run away from supposed bad guys or hide from an evil entity under the bed. And the effects and stuff were super amazing. BUT there were a lot of missed opportunities in my opinion to make it a bit scarier or more of a thriller - there were many times looking back where I was thinking, "if they had just done this or that small thing, it could have created a great surprise scare or made this scene way more spooky." And I wish the story actually involved us more and was a narrative we could follow and maybe even introduced mysteries that we might be able to be involved with solving as it went on. Instead it was more like the each character just told us their story and most of them seemed to be fairly random and disconnected.
I gave it 3 stars because I did have a lot of fun for 30 minutes - it could have been better imo, but it was a lot of fun. But I could have bought a ticket to Universal Studios for the same price (NOT the night time horror thing, just the daytime amusement park) and had a full day of amazing entertainment. Or I could have gotten a ticket to see Hadestown at the Pantages for that price and experienced one of the best musicals ever which is 2-3 hours of brilliant entertainment.
Delusion was 30 minutes of fun at WAY too high a price."

"Visited on Nov 1 at 7:30pm and it was fantastic. The immersion started the moment we checked in—no lines. The production value felt truly movie-level. It’s shorter than previous years, but it was very well executed with top tier sets, creatures and acting. The only negative is that we wished it was longer. I’m so glad we went and highly recommend."

"the perfect date night or group outing. Longe is fun and moody to hangout before. Actors did a great job! Only wish was that it was a little longer!"

🚇 🗺️ Getting There
Delusion has moved locations in the past, but recent iterations have been held at venues like the Variety Arts Theater in Downtown LA or in Pomona for 'Delusion Valley of Hollows'. Always check the official Delusion website for the most current location details for the specific year you plan to visit.
Public transport options will depend on the specific venue. For Downtown LA locations, consider using the Metro. For Pomona, research local bus routes. It's advisable to check transit apps like Google Maps or Moovit for the best routes based on the venue's address.
Parking availability and cost vary significantly by venue. Downtown LA locations might have paid parking garages nearby, while other venues might offer on-site parking or street parking. Check the official Delusion website or venue information for specific parking guidance.
If you're visiting from further afield, consider driving and parking if available, or utilizing ride-sharing services like Uber or Lyft. For those coming from other parts of California, Amtrak or Metrolink trains might be an option to reach a station near the venue, followed by a short ride-share.
During peak Halloween season, traffic can be heavy. Plan to leave earlier than you think you need to, especially if driving. Ride-sharing services can also be in high demand, so factor in potential wait times.
🎫 🎫 Tickets & Entry
Ticket prices for Delusion can be quite high, often exceeding $100, and vary depending on the date and time. Some reviews mention prices around $112.99+. It's best to check the official Delusion website for current pricing and any potential package deals.
It is highly recommended to buy tickets as soon as they go on sale, as Delusion events often sell out completely, especially for weekend dates closer to Halloween.
A standard ticket grants you access to the immersive theatrical experience. Some reviews suggest that beyond the show itself, the 'extension' might just be a bar area, so manage expectations regarding additional activities.
It is unlikely that tickets will be available at the door, as they typically sell out in advance. Purchasing tickets online ahead of time is the only reliable way to guarantee entry.
Delusion typically operates in the evenings during the Halloween season. Specific showtimes and operating hours will be listed on their official website when tickets go on sale.

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Older Teens
When planning a family visit, consider booking tickets for weeknights to potentially experience slightly smaller crowds. Ensure everyone in the family is comfortable with the idea of being in a dark, potentially startling environment and is prepared to put their phones away for the duration of the show. The experience is a great way to bond over shared thrills and create lasting memories.
👫 Couples Seeking a Thrilling Date Night
Opt for an earlier showtime on a weeknight for a more intimate experience. Afterward, you can discuss your favorite scares and the abstract story over drinks at the venue's bar or at a nearby restaurant. It's an activity that sparks conversation and provides plenty of shared adrenaline.
👯 Groups of Friends
Coordinate your ticket purchases to ensure your group can attend the same showtime. Discussing the experience afterward, comparing reactions, and laughing about the scares is a significant part of the fun. It’s a great way to celebrate spooky season with your crew.

The Art of Immersive Horror
Recent themes have included interpretations of Dante's Inferno, showcasing the creative range of the showrunners. The production value is consistently praised, with movie-level special effects, intricate set designs, and convincing creature costumes. This attention to detail contributes significantly to the overall atmosphere and believability of the horror. The use of smaller group sizes in some years has been highlighted as a way to increase the personal and scary nature of the experience, making it feel more intimate and intense.
While the core experience is highly regarded, some reviews note that the storytelling can be abstract or disconnected, and the actual performance time might be shorter than anticipated. However, the overall consensus is that the actors' performances are top-tier, and the effects are impressive, making it a memorable, albeit brief, encounter with horror.
Navigating the Price and Value
Many visitors feel that while the experience is fun and the production quality is high, the short duration of the actual performance (often around 30 minutes) is a major drawback for the price. Some reviews suggest that the 'extended' pre- or post-show activities are limited to a bar area, which doesn't always add substantial value for the cost. This has led to some visitors feeling it's 'over-hyped and over-priced'.
However, other attendees find the immersion and quality of the acting and effects to be worth the splurge, especially for a unique Halloween event. They emphasize the high production value and the effectiveness of the scares as justifying the expense. The key seems to be managing expectations; if you go in understanding it's a concentrated, high-impact 30-minute theatrical piece rather than an all-night event, you might find the value more aligned with the cost.
