What are some good long walking trails in or around the southern/ western metro? looking to vary things up from my usual Lebanon Hills/ Murphy Hanrahan go-tos.
I've been walking Jensen lake/ Lebanon Hills a lot recently around Eagan. I am also a fan of Murphy Hanrahan in Savage, it can be a bit steep in places which makes it sketchy this early in the season with mud and slickness. Both have paths that can stretch up to 2+ miles if youβ¦

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Louisville Swamp MVNWR is a hidden gem offering scenic hikes through forests and wetlands. Visitors appreciate its natural beauty and the unique glacial boulder. However, trail accessibility can be challenging due to fluctuating water levels, and navigation requires attention. It's a great spot for those prepared for an adventurous, less-trafficked outdoor experience.
"Lovely somewhat hidden gem of a hike. 4.5 loop turns into a 8 mile in and out unless the waters are low or you are prepared to wade in the water! Bridge is out by Jab farm."

"Very scenic and spacious. Giving yourself plenty of time to explore is important. We heard a large group of coyotes tonight, so when it's dark, keeping an eye on dogs is a good idea. The pathways are very icy, as it is March. Good shoes would help or even a pair of boots to maneuver around the large patches was helpful for myself. Google maps doesn't show the walking paths so it can be difficult to navigate if you don't pay attention. But it's not a problem if you have a general sense of direction. Never really busy that I've seen, but I don't go at peak times and it's been very cold lately. Definitely a great place to go! Highly recommend."

"I've hiked here for fifty years regularly, when I first came to Lewisville the crack in the boulder was two inches wide. Note Look for the perennial cactus you will see it on exposed bedrock. Bruce"
