Many find it a worthwhile detour, even with the challenges of high altitude and unpredictable weather. It's a popular spot for photographers and those seeking an iconic Colorado mountain experience.
"What an incredible detour. We were heading to Vail and saw this spot is a great picturesque stop. YEAH! IT TOTALLY IS. We drove from Texas and 11,900ish feet of elevation is pretty spicy for us but it was so worth it. Just be sure to take your time, breathe and take a jacket!! It was 68 at the base and 41 at the top. My delay in acclimation was all forgotten when you see the views. Mind you, children were running up and down the hill and I could barely breathe haha but it was all gorgeous. 1000/10"
