"We're not going back!" chanted a crowd protesting inside the Wisconsin state Capitol on a rainy Tuesday afternoon, in what was termed a march for democracy and reproductive freedom. The protest was part of the @50501movement, which gets its name from organizing 50 protests in 50 states on 1 day. Previous protests from the movement were held Feb. 5th and 17th. #captimes #captimesmadison #madis...

The panoramic views from the observation deck are a major highlight, as are the knowledgeable and friendly staff who enhance the experience. While some mention closed areas or crowds during events, the overall sentiment is one of awe and appreciation for this 'People's House.'

"I feel a bit silly reviewing a government building but that's how great this place is! Spontaneously joined the hourly free tour & was easily one of the highlights of the entire trip. It was so interesting, the tour guide was incredibly nice, well-spoken, & knowledgeable. This is a must do activity!"

Maria Pangalos

"Impressive. Imposing. Incredible.

Driving in from the interstate you don't quite know what to expect when suddenly the Dome looms into view. Wow!

We drove into Madison expecting a quiet Sunday visit when we discovered "Taste of Madison" street festival was in full swing. Literally thousands of people enjoying food booths, beer and music...and the Capitol itself. I was glad to see the "People's House" open to the public so my wife and I availed ourselves to it's majesty.

Beautiful rotunda, expansive staircases and hallways, the sun shone though the portals and down upon us all. (Wisely, most bathrooms within were closed. Unfortunately so was the Observation Deck) The grounds outside were well groomed and enjoyed by hundred of folks who had set up lawn chairs to enjoy the fest.

As usual I recommend if you're within range of a State Capitol you need to visit. This one is worth it."

castercamber

"The state capitol is both beautiful and rich in history. The rotunda especially stands out. I did see several homeless people inside escaping the cold, but they were harmless. The complimentary tour was a nice touch to offer."
