What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Tchefuncte River Lighthouse a picturesque and historically significant landmark, especially beautiful at sunset. However, direct land access is often problematic due to construction and flooding, leading many to recommend boat tours for the best experience.
"My friend and I decided to go and find this lighthouse on one of our local exploring adventures. Needless to say, it is a doozy trying to get too. You basically see it from a distance and you do not actually drive up to it. That is why I only gave it a four star rating. Now as for the adventure this created, you cannot put a price on it-we had a blast especially going across the one lane tiny bridge to go see it! I would suggest going for a sunset picture time but be careful crossing that bridge!"

"The drive to the lighthouse from the city of New Orleans is beautiful over the lake (26 mile bridge). The light house area was beautiful but could not reach the actual monument due to construction. The parking lot was still in construction phase so the drive was bit rugged on the tires. Overall it was a good experience."
Prasad Vadlamani
"Not accessible by land. My pic is from closest point to view from land (end of SR 1077). That road floods often so can't always get to the point by car. Lake Pontchatrain Basin Maritime Museum supports it with information, it is located nearby and is worth the visit as well."
