What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Manchester State Park for its expansive, uncrowded beaches and the unique opportunity to explore historic WW2 bunkers. The natural beauty, wildlife sightings, and potential for tide pooling are frequently highlighted as positives. Some note that the beach can be windy and cold, and beach access requires awareness of steep drop-offs in certain areas.
"Choosing the correct trail was needed because long stretches of the beach had a steep drop. So we veered to the north trail from the parking lot past the KOA. This in early May 2023. But the wildflowers in this area were amazing, plentiful. Never saw this on my many previous visits."

"Very nice beach! Many miles long, starting just north of the Point Arena Lighthouse. Great dunes between beach and highway, two good parking options, look for beach access signs before and after the town of Manchester. Southern parking lot has a lenghty path through the dunes to the beach, probably 3/4 of a mile. If you plan to carry more than a backpack be prepared to haul it through a nice scenery but on fine sand! The beach itself has great sand too but it is regularly rather cold and windy, for sunbathing not the best place. But nice walks, plenty of birds to see, tons of drift wood, sometimes you can spot deers in the southern part of the dunes. Usually very few people"

"Very pleasant beach if you want to get some ocean on you and do as we did, take a nap with the background of soothing surf! We visited on a weekday afternoon in August and saw maybe 2 or 3 other people. Nice gentle walk getting there."
