What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
El Cosmico offers a unique, rustic glamping experience with a strong emphasis on desert charm and community. While many praise the distinctive accommodations and incredible stargazing, some guests have noted issues with cleanliness, privacy in shared facilities, and inconsistent management hospitality. The property is undergoing a transition, with hopes for improvements in future iterations.
"Been planning to go here for years and I finally went with my sister for her birthday for 2 nights. We stayed in a teepee in late February and it was very cold. Thank goodness for the fireplace inside the teepee and the heated bed. I knew it was going to be a "glamping" situation so I expected the rough bits. Outdoor bath and toilet was my least favorite, but I expected it since it was a camping ground. Parking is far from the sleeping space and you have to wheel your stuff to your campsite. We brought our own food and had a really great time. The stars were so beautiful out there. I would come back and maybe try a trailer next time.
The only issue we had was that the tents don't have a lock and that freaked us out because someone accidentally went into our tent thinking it was their tent so I could see that going bad in many ways."

"I really wanted to love El Cosmico, as it has a lot of potential, but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. I came with a group of friends for a weekend getaway, and from the start, we were treated poorly by the management, specifically Kendall. We were repeatedly told to leave common areas before quiet hours, and weren’t allowed to use shared spaces. On top of that, our rooms were mixed up, and we ended up in downgraded rooms than what we had paid too much money for—without any adjustment or discount for the mix-up.
We had booked for about 20 people and spent thousands on our stay, only to feel unwelcome the entire time. To make matters worse, we were slapped with a $1,000 charge for an "unauthorized event" after we checked out, even though there’s nothing on their website or in our contract that mentions this fee. We even contacted management beforehand to inform them about our group, but that clearly didn’t matter to them if they could get more money out of us.
For the amount of money we spent, the hospitality was incredibly lacking. Honestly, I’d have preferred staying at a basic hotel like a Holiday Inn, where I could’ve gotten much better service for the price."

"We arrived late—our fault, not theirs—but navigating to our accommodations was a challenge, thanks to dim lighting and nonexistent signage. Luckily, the bed in our Safari Tent was surprisingly comfortable, and despite stained linens and being jolted awake by a passing freight train, we managed a decent night’s sleep.
Unfortunately trash was a major issue. Overflowing, smelly bins were everywhere, including in the Bath Houses—a glaring hygiene problem. And those bathrooms? Gaps in the wooden slats wide enough to destroy any illusion of privacy, plus no locks on the tents, made for an unsettling experience, especially as a female traveler.
Look, I’m all for the rustic, “roughing it” vibe—but when you’re paying for an elevated camping experience, cleanliness, safety, and comfort shouldn’t be optional. Unfortunately, El Cosmico missed the mark. It’s probably for the best they’re closing up shop—hopefully the reboot gets it together."
