What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Fort Ord Dunes State Park for its beautiful, uncrowded beaches and scenic paved trails perfect for biking and walking. The expansive dunes and ocean views are a major draw, offering a peaceful escape. However, reaching the beach can be challenging due to varied sandy terrain, and the surf is not suitable for swimming.
"Nice little hike from the parking lot to the beach. No fee to park. Porta potties were relatively clean, but out of sanitizer. Clean beach, and found a couple of sand dollars intact. Parasailors (?) were gliding along the dunes, very cool. Not a good beach for swimming."
Karen Tracey
"T he beach here is very nice but it was not exactly the easiest to get to. Another thing is the surf is not gentle or warm. You have about 100 yards of 3 different walking surfaces to get through to get to the beach. First is the paved area of the parking lot, then you run into compacted sand area, then is the loose sand area. Not to mention the first compacted sand area is in a very narrow trench area you cannot even get a small little beach cart through see pics. Seperate bonus is a long paved trail you can ride your bikes or have a nice walk."
David M
"Nice beach once you get down there. Not crowded. I would go again if looking for secluded beach time."
