"Traveling from Northern New York to Chicago area, we need to do and walk. My 67 year old husband fermented his Jr. High history teacher taking about this place. They have done a wonderful job preserving, interpreting and making this battlefield accessible. Someone could do the entire 1.5 loop in a wheelchair! Wildlife, wildflowers, woods, just lovely! There's a qr code at the beginning that gives a great presentation via your smart phone. Definitely worth the stop! Nice, clean restrooms, as well! Also, we saw a number of people walking dogs, but the grounds were clean, so between conscientious owners and good staffing the trail isn't gross! Just very friendly! Warning: I DID see a lot of little snakes."
