What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate the wide, shallow beach at North Beach Payette Lake, noting it's often less crowded than other spots and ideal for swimming and picnics. However, the unpaved access road, potential for bugs, and basic restroom facilities are common drawbacks. Planning ahead by arriving early and packing essentials is key to a good experience.
"There are several coves to go swimming or have a picnic on the North beach area. This beach is part of Ponderosa state park. Some areas have a fee."
Nelida Safrit
"Getting here driving along the east side of the lake be prepared that the last 2-3 miles is not paved so it can get slightly bumpy. The parking lot has a self-service fee station ($7 per vehicle). From there it is a 500 foot walk down to the beach. There is a small section that is roped off for swimmers. The bad: There is a bit more debris and deadwood scattered along the beach here, as well as a mild amount of bugs and mosquitos (so bring spray), plus there are no garbages so you pack out everything you bring in. The good: This is a much wider stretch of open, flat, shallow beach than some of the areas in town at the south end of the Lake and tends to be less crowded."
Brandon
"Bring bug protection and enjoy a great day with a different view of the lake."
