Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Castle Craig for its breathtaking panoramic views and the unique experience of climbing the historic stone tower. The free admission and scenic drive/hike are major draws, though the lack of restrooms and the park's early closing time are noted drawbacks.

"A very cool place to visit, it was nice to be able climb stairs and look out at the top. Very pretty view. Glad we found this historical sight.

The drive up to the castle was nice. I would recommend you check entry/closing times before you travel. And it’s free, which was also great to find when traveling."

"This spot was on my to visit for this summer and the 2hr drive from NYC NY was worth it. You can literally see the castle/tower from the highway. From the entrance to the top is exactly 3 miles. There's no fee to enter or park. The portion of the drive up has multiple speed bumps so be aware. Once you park and walk to the castle you'll be captivated of how breathtaking the views are. You almost get a 360 view of the entire town and surrounding area. The tower it self its open and you're able to walk to the top. The pictures don't do it justice. You can take so many amazing shots from any angle. Only downside to it that there are no restrooms or portapotties so plan ahead. Every who was there was in awe of how gorgeous the views are. Definitely add this place to your bucket list."

Mikeyy Lunarezz

"It's a pretty nice view, one of the better ones that I think you'll get in Connecticut. There are some better options in NH if you are traveling. The hike up is "moderate" but not because if the steepness, it's all the loose rocks you have to hike over. Bring hiking sticks if you're coming on foot. Alternatively, if you're not sure-footed, just drive up. Plenty of parking at the top."
