What to do near Mt. Baldy?

Taking my 8 & 11 year old to Mount Baldy and Washington Park Zoo over the long weekend. What are some other kid friendly activities near there?

My case point for Indiana Dunes. Place is awesome.

Forgot the factories were even there for most of my day there. Will be back next weekend for more. Pinhook bog guided trail was quite short but it was one of the better national park experiences l've ever had. Getting to be THAT close to the liveliest ecosystems I've ever seen…

🐶 Dog-Friendly Trails

Leashed dogs are welcome on many trails, including the lake path. Remember to pick up after them!

Reviews Summary

Mount Baldy Beach offers stunning, unique landscapes with challenging sand dunes and peaceful lake trails. Visitors praise its natural beauty and dog-friendly atmosphere, though some find the park's layout confusing and the dune terrain difficult. Planning ahead is recommended for a smooth experience.

"Nice beach cool trails ... The terrain is very difficult if you are not able to go up big hills in the sand so be prepared for a much more difficult route to the beach. The dune's stand 40 to 60 feet and it's at a angle which is a beautiful view but not so beautiful navigating it."

"Always a great place to hike out to see The Lake! It's also dog friendly (unlike some of the Dunes areas and Washington Park, sadly), and people are really responsible in picking up trash, dog waste, and their belongings when they visit. People keep the place clean, respect nature, and leave it in a good way for everyone else to see."

Dawn Shrader

"Absolutely loved our experience at Mount Baldy! It was truly a sight to behold, with the mesmerizing mix of ice, snow, and sand creating a scene that was nothing short of mind-boggling. The 3-hour drive up was completely worth it for this breathtaking view alone. This was clearly a favorite spot due to all of the footprints left in the sand! Take memories and leave only footprints. The short hike to the beach was a breeze, and the best part? The bathrooms are open year-round!
