"This was was kind of a hidden gem. Not many people. Some fun interactive items that my kids enjoyed thoroughly like pelts and bones, a giant eagle nest, and different exhibits of taxidermy. So many birds were flying around.
The visitor center itself was super cool and unique with alot of glass views of the lake. There was a nice little trail that was small but serene. The drive through scenic trail was interesting with a few stops along the way. Definately a place to check out when their migratory birds are there. Check their Facebook page for numbers and times when they're there but the facility seems to be set up for migratory viewings and possible ranger talks. Highly recommend checking it out. Wish we had more time to check out a little more.
Also the steamboat exhibit inside is super neat and amazing how many items they found from the wreckage."

"I stopped here on a work trip while driving from Omaha to Sioux City. I was really impressed and happy I stopped. I saw two bald eagles and countless other birds. There were cool dioramas and more than I expected from the steamboat exhibit. They had a small gift shop with some decent merch. I really enjoyed driving around, hiking, running, and generally connecting with nature. It was very peaceful and uncrowded."
