"Yes, it's corny, but very interesting! The history behind this corn museum is "amazing!" 😉 Everybody that we spoke with prior to this trip, all said we needed to stop here! They were right! It's a sight for everybody to see and witness this piece of history they keep alive! The exterior is corn art, along with the murals on the interior! In addition, there's an auditorium with numerous upcoming live concerts! It's not a shabby lineup, in my opinion! There's also a very nice snack bar with all kinds of goodies! In the auditorium, there's an enormous gift shop that covers the basketball court area! Most impressive! There's so many visitors coming and going the entire time you're sightseeing! It's definitely a popular vacation stop! This building was first erected and decorated with corn in 1852! Enjoy the history and spread the news to others! Impressive!"

"Such a unique place! While we were visiting they were taking some of the corn down on one side of the building. So cool to see how they pull the corn down with a pitch fork! The corn is stapled up on the building with particle board! Make sure to checkout the inside and go upstairs to see all the pictures of the corn palace from years passed. Each ear they do a different design! In the inside they have a huge gift shop that takes up half of the arena floor. And make sure to stop at the concessions stand to get some popcorn to enjoy while walking around!"

"It was great! The whole place is mostly made of corn. Some of the murals look absolutely astonishing. My favorite was the Mount Rushmore mural. All of them are completely made of corn husks not corn pieces. If I could write it more than five stars, I’d do 100 out of five."

The Art of Corn: Understanding the Murals
Historically, corn palaces were popular attractions in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, celebrating agricultural abundance. Mitchell's Corn Palace is the last of its kind, continuing this tradition since 1921. The themes for the murals are often inspired by local history, national events, or agricultural motifs. Seeing how the artists incorporate different colors and textures of corn to create depth and imagery is truly fascinating.
More Than Just Corn: The Corn Palace as a Community Hub
Inside, visitors can explore a substantial gift shop that often occupies a significant portion of the arena floor. This shop offers a wide array of souvenirs, local crafts, and, of course, corn-themed merchandise. The presence of a snack bar further enhances the visitor experience, providing refreshments for those exploring the building or attending an event. This blend of art, history, and community function makes the Corn Palace a unique destination.
