Reviews Summary

Cesar E. Chavez Park offers free recreational space with ongoing improvements like a new playground and skate park. While appreciated for daytime family activities and basketball courts, some visitors express concerns about safety and restroom conditions, particularly in the late afternoon and evening.

"Hi Cesar Chavez park it is relatively a nice area. Is under construction at the moment there is going to be a playground for smaller kids but there's also putting in a skateboard the Gibson curves and jumps. I'm not sure when it's going to be completed but they're really doing a good job on it I just hope that they have a bathroom for all the kids that are going to be playing there. Before the bathroom was shut down for a couple 3 years. Plus we have the Madison complex there is it going to be a good place for the kids to go and hang out and not be thugs."

Michael Chupco

"Yikes, this park needs some major TLC. There was a fallen tree, grass needed cutting, the restrooms looked condemned and were under lock and chain. About a dozen homeless set up shop throughout the entire park. The neighborhood does seem nice and quiet, with nice homes surrounding the park on all sides."

Edwin Martinez

"This is the closest park within walking distance and I have to say I'd sadly disappointed with the city of Modesto. I do not feel safe taking my children to this park. There are a lot of scary characters that hang around all day at this park, including some that camp out. I wouldn't dare enter the bathroom, since I think a homeless person as claimed it as home. The children's play area is older equipment and not taken care of. Graffiti is norm here. The homeless seem to have better manners though. The last couple times I attempted to take my children there, they were subject to other parents with distasteful language. I also notice that a couple of the campers have dogs and don't keep them on leases. Do not go to this park at night."
