Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Schuyler County Historical Society Brick Tavern Museum as a well-maintained, engaging historical site. The friendly and knowledgeable staff, coupled with the immersive period rooms and valuable research materials, create a highly recommended experience. It's celebrated as a 'gem' that offers a poignant journey through local history.

"This was truly an unexpected gem of a storehouse, strong with poignancy and all manner of bittersweet memories. The professional upkeep of the museum was top notch, and I was warmly welcomed after introducing myself. It was a joy to know that pictures were/are allowed, but I would love to upload all that I saw today, as it was such an insurmountable and comprehensive place!
I was bowled over by the times and seasons changing right before my eyes from room to room, with special attention to certain eras and specifically tailored modifications to others.
It presented in parts, a genealogical self guided tour, where you saw the development of technology, domestic life, environment and fashion literally change before your eyes into a riveting spell of surrogate time travel.
It was easy to tell that much love was painstakingly put into this top tier museum and my personal hope is that many will visit to unearth its antiquated relics and charms.
A kind thanks to those in charge today! You surely have a gorgeous facility on your hands and a true gift to the community!
Color me extremely impressed!
Highly highly recommended."

"I won't reiterate all the wonderful and surprising things others have said but I found them to be true. Starting with Dawn who gave us a wonderful introduction to the house and the history and then described the multitude of historical artifacts, memorabilia, and exhibits, our museum adventure just kept getting better. Each room was crammed with history, and many items had cards or signs with more information and details about the items. We spent time talking to the newish (April 2022) executive director, Heather O’Grady-Evans about the area as well as the museum. As educators, we were encouraged by her enthusiasm and sense of purpose and long range planning. We strongly encourage passing visitors to spend some time here, learn about the area and its rich history and give some support to the county historical society. They're doing a great job. You won't regret the stop."
