What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the spectacular spring wildflowers and breathtaking panoramic views of the Columbia River Gorge. The well-maintained trails offer a rewarding hiking experience, though some note the lack of facilities and the need for sun protection. It's a popular spot, so expect company during peak times.
"The wildflowers here in the spring are one of Oregon’s highlights. Spectacular panorama views of Mt Adams, St Helens, and Hood with the Columbia Tiver snaking down below. The trail to the view point is a gradual climb for about 3 miles. The lower trail is more gentle. Be cautious of the poison oak as it’s as prolific as the balsam root in some areas."

"We hiked here may 5th and the flowers were still beautiful in their bloom, although some were already withering. The hike was easy, it's only 4.8 miles round trip. It was 75 degree weather and I burned 🔥 note to self wear a big hat next time!"

"Nice area to see the wildflowers in the spring. There is no bathroom, or even a porta potty in the parking area. No water either. Please come prepared to pack out everything you bring in. If you're not much of a hiker, you can experience the flowers on Rowena Plateau. If you're up for a hike, the Tom McCall Point Trail is around 1,000 ft of elevation gain and approximately 4 miles roundtrip. You will be exposed to the sun for the majority of the trail. No parking or hiking permits required."
