The best weekends are those without cell service 🏔️🌲🪵 There’s really nothing better than finding a secluded spot in the woods where we can let our dogs run around freely, spend our evenings cooking our meals and sitting around the campfire with no distractions and exploring the beautiful area around us. Bonus points if there’s a good view or river access! #campingvibes #chasingwaterfalls #pnwond...

The greatest weapon you have as a woman is your intuition and when I’m solo camping, this truth still remains. To some a random drone might not seem like a big deal. However, I have no idea who was on the other end of the drone and what their intentions were. Maybe it would’ve been nothing. It probably would’ve been fine, but I couldn’t take that risk. I was really angry that I felt unsafe but i...

Reviews Summary

Blackwoods Campground is lauded for its exceptional location within Acadia National Park, offering convenient access to major attractions and hiking trails. Campers appreciate the clean, quiet atmosphere and the availability of the free park shuttle. However, the lack of on-site showers and the need to bring firewood are common points of consideration for visitors. InstagramReddit+1

"Very nice big campground. Stayed 3 nights. It's very quiet and about 15min drive to Bar Harbor. Awsome free bus service that stops in ft of campground every hour and brings you throughout the park with many stops and also service Bar Harbor. Bathrooms where clean but no showers."

Gunflint Explorer

"This is one of three campgrounds that is located within Acadia National Park boundaries, and it is certainly located near so many attractions and hiking trails. I was easily able to walk to the Ocean Path, Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, Otter Cliff, Beehive Trail, and more straight from the entrance of the campground which is very convenient during the busy season. I stayed at site B50 with a single tent which was especially spacious and spread apart from the neighboring sites. The nature around the campground is just beautiful, and they offer evening programs at the amphitheater multiple times/week. As many others have mentioned, this campground does not have showers or firewood for sale, but there are places that offer those right up the street which can be accessed by a few minute drive or walk up the gravel path that runs through the campground. As long as you plan in advance to secure a spot for your desired camping dates, this is a wonderful place to stay!"

Ellie Letourneau

"Loved our 5 days at Blackwoods Campground. Clean, quiet and just perfect. Well maybe showers would have made it really perfect😊. Easy access to ocean sunrise, hiking trails, park loop and carriage trails. We biked everywhere! Staff was lovely as well. Thank you!"
