Shortened road to Hana

I'm looking for some feedback. I'm not interested in doing the full road to Hana but maybe just 2-3 hour round-trip from paia. Thinking of going to Keenae lookout and then returning back to Paia. Is this a good turnaround spot? Would this be 2-3 hours? Has anyone done…

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about Nahiku Viewpoint's stunning coastal scenery, particularly the dramatic black lava rocks meeting the turquoise ocean. It's praised as a must-stop for its unique beauty and photographic potential, though some note the lack of amenities and strong waves. Reddit

"Today on the Road to Hana we saw Twin Falls and Ke'anae. That's it. Falls for him, Ke'anae for me. I first came to the Ke'anae Peninsula in 2019 and it has been my screensaver/wallpaper ever since. Every spot on Maui is wonderful for a different reason but if I had to chose one just one that I could return to. It would be this. Those who get to live here are so lucky and I am so grateful that they don't put something up to block the gawkers like me out.
The way the brilliant blue churns and makes whites when it hits the black is mesmerizing. The breeze it creates that moves the feathery pines makes you smile just thinking about it. When I look at that picture from 6 years ago I can still hear the boom of that wave hitting the rock and remember that that mist wasn't just there it stretched out and made it look magical when you saw it from up above.
We got the chairs out. He took a nap and I sat there watching the waves, the mist, the trees, and all the people coming and going, being completely thankful that I was given the opportunity to see this place again.
The only bad thing about this place is that you have to drive so far up Hana to see it but then again, maybe it's not such a bad thing."

"Breathtaking ocean view! Huge waves splashing against the ocean shore and lots of lava rocks here!

The land near the ocean looks serene!

What a contrast of scenery!

Must take a stop here and feel the power of the ocean!"

Shellie S.

"This is a gorgeous piece of real estate! If you are headed to Hana, I'd definitely recommend stopping here. The narrow road leads to a dead end, but there's lots of open space to park and enjoy the views. Though there are no shops, restaurants, snack stands, or even a sandy beach, it's the heavenly coastal scenery and natural beauty that you need to experience. The peninsula is dotted with a few private homes, taro patches, a church, and open fields.

TIP:
Respect the privacy of the residents and their peaceful surroundings. Also, the taro patches are on private land so don't just walk through them. Be sure to check out Aunty Sandy's (a banana bread stand). There is a nice photo op of the peninsula from Hana Highway above, with safe and paved parking.

OVERALL:
It's a great place to relax, take pics, and picnic."
