What Travellers Say

Visitors consistently praise Naomi Peak for its stunning summit views and the breathtaking beauty of its aspen groves, especially in the fall. Some note that certain sections can be rocky and that snow can linger into summer, impacting accessibility.
"This is one of my favorite mountains to hike! It's the tallest moutain in cache valley, the nature here is beautiful, and the scenery at the top is stunning. You can't see much of the valley floor, but you can see far out to the east and see mountains upon mountains! I would definitely hike this again, I would recommend for a date or beginner hike."

"It's a relatively short hike (from Tony's), but climbs significantly (2000 ft) The peak is the highest in the range (9979 ft). The Naomi Peak NRT trail itself is about 6 miles round trip, and worth the views. It starts at the north end of Tony's Grove Lake with the White Pine Trail and has signs for Naomi Peak. The trail is well maintained for a wilderness trail, but there are a few spots where it's easy to lose it for a second in the rocks. We planned on hiking on the Naomi Peak NRT Trail up and then hiking south along the ridgeline to the Smithfield Canyon Trail/Coldwater Trail/Blind Hollow along a path that I've heard of, but when we were up top we couldn't find the trail along the ridge and some of the saddles along the ridge looked like they had more exposed cliffs than we wanted. If you have time to pick along the ridge this would be a great loop to take, but it's clearly not a common route and we couldn't find a trail. The views down Smithfield Canyon are phenomenal, and the view of Mt. Magog is also impressive. Not a good trail for small kids because of the strenuous climb and lots of rocks and ledges. We hiked it mid July and there was still a lot of snow banks up top, but the trail was manageable. Depending on the year, access in June and May is probably limited."

"This was a challenging hike for how short it was. However, I had a blast on this hike and will be doing it again in the future. The elevation gain made the hike difficult at times but the scenery was gorgeous and the views from the top were beautiful."

Navigating the Naomi Peak Trail
The elevation gain is significant, approximately 2,000 feet, making it a strenuous climb for its distance. This means it's not the most suitable hike for very young children or those unaccustomed to steep ascents. However, the effort is rewarded with increasingly spectacular views as you ascend.
For the adventurous, there's the possibility of exploring the ridgeline south of the peak. This could potentially form a loop with trails in Smithfield Canyon or Blind Hollow. However, this route is less common, can be challenging to navigate, and some saddles along the ridge may present more exposed cliff faces than some hikers are comfortable with. It's recommended for experienced hikers with good navigation skills.
The Magic of Fall at Naomi Peak
This seasonal beauty attracts a moderate number of visitors, so while it's not as crowded as some other popular fall destinations, arriving earlier in the morning is still advisable to secure parking at the Tony's Grove trailhead and enjoy a more serene hike. The crisp mountain air and the stunning visual spectacle make it an ideal spot for photography and a memorable day trip.
It's important to note that fall weather in the mountains can be unpredictable. While the aspens are at their peak, early snowfalls can occur, potentially impacting trail conditions and access. Always check the weather forecast and trail reports before heading out to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
