What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill, calling it a 'hidden gem' with beautiful, serene views and well-maintained facilities. The accessible 'Jump Off' overlook and diverse hiking trails are major highlights, offering a state park feel without the crowds. While cabins are cozy, they lack air conditioning and require guests to bring their own bedding.
"A hidden gem! This place is awesome. Beautiful, scenic, quiet/serene, clean & well kept, ample space on sites, separate loops for RVs, tents, & cabins. Playground, hiking, scenic, sport & picnic areas. 25 min drive from Canandaigua to the North, 13 min to Naples, NY to the South. 30 min to CMAC performing arts center.
*We stayed in cabin 2, it was $30 per night (with a 2 night minimum stay), & it was a one room & relatively "small" but still enough space for us (4 adults) to use the day bed with 2 twin size mattresses as well as our queen size air mattress (though a double size air mattress would have fit a little better). Like almost any park cabin, there is no bedding so bring your own. I believe they said the trundle bed underneath the day bed pulls up so they can make one big queen size as well but we didn't do that. But the cabin itself was beautiful, clean, all wood & very cozy. We loved our little porch & the table (round or rectangular & wooden with 2 chairs) was perfect size to move around easily & the adjustable panels on it made it a space saver too. There was electricity, a microwave & a mini fridge. NO air conditioning. Hooks to hang things on the wall. If you have more than 2 people in your party, you'll need to bring chairs & beds for them in this particular cabin. Each cabin was different. Cabin 1 had 2 rooms (one with a bunk bed & the other like our cabin w a day bed). Cabin 4 was similar to ours but with more space. Cabin 6 looked much larger. Etc. Each cabin had a porch & most of them overlook a large wooded area &/or field. They're close to several trails in gorgeous forests. The bathroom is within about 50-75' of all cabins but they didn't feel too crowded & were generally nicely separated by trees. Each cabin has their own firepit & grill (ours had the grill in the fire pit, other had a separate standing grill) & sink. A nice feature was a little communal stone firepit central to all the cabins, with a stone patio around it.
*There was a stocked pond for fishing & we caught several perch, bass, & sunfish.
*There was a playground, basketball court, lodge & pavilion area & multiple places to picnic or play sports.
*There is no swimming/pool.
*There is a scenic overlook called "the jump off".
*We enjoyed watching wildlife all over the park multiple times & even from our porch from deer to groundhogs to chipmunks.
This had the beauty & most of the amenities of a state park but without the crowds. We absolutely loved it & hope to return!! Well done to whoever the staff is that maintains this park as well. ❤️"

Perfect place to enjoy picnic, let the kids run their energy out on playground and end with a yummy grape pie!"
