What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Dismal Nitch offers stunning daytime views of the Astoria-Megler Bridge and Columbia River, with convenient amenities like clean restrooms and picnic areas. However, travelers report significant disturbances from overnight visitors, making it less ideal for sleeping.
"Super cool View. Can see the bridge great Sunset lots of sea lions swimming around it was great until the evening when I stayed the evening there was like 20 what appeared to be homeless people in cars that pulled up for the night and they were really loud beeping their horns setting off their alarms every 10 minutes open and shutting their doors waking the kids up it wasn't the best but what do you expect for a rest area in the middle of nowhere.I was woke up so many times we ended up just pulling out at 3:00 a.m. how to cross the bridge into Oregon Astoria gas station and there was like 10 home people walking around when was slumped over in his driver's seat right by the front door sleeping it was definitely strange to see so many homeless people walking around at 3:30 in the morning..."

"Clean washrooms. Can stay 8 hours for parking. A good alternative to the state park just south in Oregon."
Chad Graham
"It's a beautiful viewpoint and rest area that sits on the Columbia River.
On a clear day, you look east and can see Mt. St. Helen's and south to see Sattle Mountain. (In the background of the city of Astoria.)
The rest area has many picnic tables, a few dog potty areas, a walking path, and many parking
Spots."
