Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Natchez National Historical Park for its rich history, particularly the well-preserved antebellum estates like Melrose and the scenic Natchez Trace Parkway. The park offers a deep dive into Southern heritage, though some sites require fees and hours can vary. Some reviewers noted that certain areas, like the Forks of the Road, could benefit from further development and documentation. Reddit

"This building used to be the toll house for the Natchez-Vidalia bridge that opened in September of 1940 and is the eastern terminus. The old rotunda is still there along with the monuments commemorating the opening of the bridge under the FDR administration’s Public Works programs.

I did not see the restrooms at the visitors center as a tour bus had just pulled in.

The park building itself was minimally manned and seemed unused. But it was interesting to see this forgotten remnant of road and edifices from 85 years ago."

Jeff Schmidt

"The visitor center downtown was closed. There few sites. I thought they had more mansions, sites, driving tours, some of the sites had many unsafe closed areas. I thought the Forks on the Road area of the slave trade was going to be developed and better documented."

Alexander Perez

"Great trip, drive the length, but give yourself 4 days. There is a lot of history in this park. The visitors center in Tupalo is great! The Rangers are all very nice too!"
