Stanton Hall is it. It is the most palatial residence of antebellum America. There were few peers. 3 were in Natchez. Long wood (never completed), Homewood (burned) and Melrose. Melrose did get completed and thankfully is still with us. Nottoway is now gone. But it was a different sort of house. Grand yes but set up differently so there was never quite the interior sense of scale found at Stanton....

"This was well worth our time. The home is absolutely beautiful! We also enjoyed learning about the history of the home. The price for tickets were reasonable. The tour guide, Barbara did a wonderful job showing the home and answering our questions. Judy, the gift shop lady was super friendly. I would recommend stopping here if you are in town and have the time."

JanetandEd Serna

"Our tour guide was polite, clear, and helpful. The tour was informative, fun, and gorgeous. The story is sad, but it reminds us to not rely on treasures of this earth. We don't get to enjoy them for long."
