Reviews Summary
Showdown Montana is lauded for its incredibly friendly, family-run atmosphere and welcoming staff, making it a top choice for beginners and families seeking an affordable ski experience. While the charm and value are consistently praised, some visitors have noted unexpected credit card transaction fees on ticket purchases, suggesting cash as a preferred payment method.
"We had such a great time at this women-owned ski facility! From the moment we arrived, the owners were incredibly friendly, helpful, and down-to-earth. Their warm welcome really set the tone for the whole visit.
The staff was just as amazing—attentive, caring, knowledgeable, and always ready to help with anything we needed. Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned skier, you'll feel comfortable and well taken care of here.
The facility itself was cozy and inviting. There's a great cafeteria on-site, but if you prefer to bring your own lunch, there are plenty of tables available too, which was a nice touch.
We’re already planning our next trip back! And if you’re looking for a convenient place to stay, the owners also have a hotel in Sulphur Springs, just 20–30 minutes away from the ski lodge.
Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a welcoming and enjoyable ski experience!"

"Had an amazing ski season at Showdown Montana! It’s the perfect place for beginners — affordable, welcoming, and not overwhelming. The instructors are super friendly and patient, which made learning to ski so much easier and fun. Great vibes all around."

"Skied here Wednesday and would have given a five-star rating given how helpful and nice and friendly the staff was, how great the snow was and how good the runs were. But then we got our credit card charge for the tickets which were $68 a piece totaling $136. However, the bill was for $140.08. There was no mention of a transaction fee and so when I called I asked them if they had a tax and they said no there was a transaction fee. They apologized. But if there is sorrow, where's the refund? It was mentioned that there might have been a little sticker in the ticket window mentioning the fee, but I didn't see one, but of course I wouldn't be looking for one, Why would I? Who does this anyway as a successful business? It is a deceptive business practice and it is our practice to avoid businesses which have deceptive practices. We have already done this with a local pizza shop where we live that does the same.
If they are going to do this, it should be spelled out on the website that there is a transaction fee for credit card purchases. Otherwise how can one come prepared to pay with cash or check if we don't know until we get their? This is just very bad."
