The archway in the garden and the maze are my favorite. I love that you can go in the barn and still smell horses, like the wood beams absorbed their scent. If you haven’t, definitely go around the holidays. The house is decked out and it’s just gorgeous. I live near New Bern…

"Beautiful buildings & grounds! Thoroughly enjoyed our tour guide who was very informative & friendly! She definitely loves sharing history and does so in an engaging manner. The lady at the History Museum desk & everyone at the palace grounds were all very kind.
The gift shop is as expected of a history museum; books, mass produced items of their period, private label souvenirs & food. But they also have a few local artists if you pay close attention & I did pick up some unique gifts. The lady working was fairly rude. Not enough to ruin my day, just enough to make me roll my eyes."
