What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
New Brunswick Station offers convenient NJ Transit service but is hampered by accessibility issues and a surrounding neighborhood with safety concerns. While the station itself has basic amenities, the lack of elevators and potential for crime detract from the experience. Visitors often praise the train service accuracy but caution others about the environment.
"This station serves NJ Transit trains, but it closes early on weekends, and most of the shops remain shut. Therefore, if you’re planning to do some shopping before boarding your train, your only option is Dunkin’."

"When it comes to the service prevalent to this such station on NJ Transit, there are figuratively no issues to report, as the station has an almost always accurate reporting on the service to Trenton and New York City. The predominant issue resides with two major concerns that several people have mentioned regarding New Brunswick Station.
The first of these major concerns deals with the fact that the station is oriented in the midst of a neighborhood that is generally infamous for high crime. The area is rife with suspicious activity, ships that are considerable to rip you off with your purchase, and there is a prospect that you may be a victim of a property crime or robbery if you don't look hard enough.
Second, the area is riddled with homeless people. People with little money will often use the station house as a place to reside for the night, or to get warmth/coolness during the winter and summer months, they will also look very sketchy, and potentially ask for money if they have a peculiar overbite, or if they haul all of their stuff in a singular cart."

"I missed my train by just 3 minutes, and there was absolutely no support or flexibility from Amtrak staff. What made it even worse? There was no elevator at the station. I had to carry two checked bags and manage a 3-year-old child while struggling up and down multiple sets of stairs.
This setup is completely inaccessible and unacceptable, especially for parents, seniors, travelers with disabilities, or anyone carrying luggage. It’s 2025 — there’s no excuse for a lack of basic accessibility and customer service.
Amtrak, if you want to call yourself a modern transportation provider, invest in your stations and train your staff to show some empathy. This was a stressful, exhausting, and infuriating experience. Do better."
