Reviews Summary
Westville Village apartments are plagued by persistent maintenance issues, including broken elevators and ineffective AC, leading to high utility costs and discomfort. Security is a major concern with frequent car break-ins. While some residents have had positive experiences with specific staff members, the overall consensus points to significant living challenges.
"Don't bother with this place unless you’re desperate for an apartment.
This is an honest review of my year here, backed by screenshots, emails, and logs. You’ll wonder why I moved in. I was relocating from CA, my apartment in Milford fell through, and I needed something ASAP, so I picked this place sight unseen.
These apartments are not accessible. The elevators constantly break, forcing you to use the stairs regularly. There are no ground-level apartments—ground level is the garage. Door handles are often broken or missing on exterior doors, causing issues for residents with hand disabilities.
Upon moving in, I received only one key and had to pay to have extras made. The apartment was in terrible condition: painted-over light switches, mismatched countertops, broken drawers, leaking garbage disposal, windows that didn’t close, missing screens, crooked doors that didn’t latch, non-working kitchen light, damaged bathroom mirror, and a non-functional AC. There were large cracks in the drywall and ceiling.
Several cons to note:
-The dog park is unused; residents walk dogs in the poorly draining courtyard, which floods and is full of animal waste, beer cans, cigarette butts, and other trash. Despite email reminders from the leasing office, no enforcement of rules occurs.
-Dogs are often off-leash. The leasing office’s hours are inconvenient (9am-5pm, M-F), making it hard to pick up packages or speak to staff without taking time off work.
-The AC units are inefficient and costly to run, with my electric bill averaging $400/month. Maintenance on HVAC systems is infrequent.
-Fire alarms go off frequently, often at night, and last around 40 minutes each time. Dates of alarms include: 1/5, 1/6, 1/17, 1/25, 2/8, 4/22, 4/26, 4/30, 5/6, 5/8, 5/14, 5/14, 5/26, 9/1, 9/6, 10/9, 10/12, 10/14, 10/21, 11/16, 12/28, 12/29.
-The garage is full of old pipes, bird droppings, and old fire suppression pipes that leak and cause alarms. An air compressor runs frequently to maintain water pressure. Pipes are prone to freezing, with heat tape and extension cables everywhere.
-The stairwells are rarely cleaned, often filled with animal feces and cigarette butts. When cleaning does occur, it’s usually outside of quiet hours, causing disturbances.
-The leasing office encourages honking at the gate, which is disruptive, and the AMR ambulance often makes noise during non-emergency deliveries.
-Windows don’t close properly, leading to bug infestations and water leaks when it rains. Towels are needed to soak up the water.
-Maintenance requests take an average of two months. My longest tickets were seven months for a kitchen light (which remains broken) and four months for the AC unit, resolved only after threatening the leasing office.
-The leasing office staff are kind but unprofessional, with typo-filled emails. They added perks like a destroyed pool table, a minimally equipped gym, and a messy outdoor grilling area overlooking the dumpsters. Additional fees apply for online rent payment. The chess board and pieces were poorly maintained.
-Trash rooms are consistently clogged, sometimes boarded up due to mice.
The biggest issue is crime. My car was broken into once, my neighbor’s six times. I no longer keep my registration in the car. Break-ins are so frequent they made TV news. Despite meetings with the police and alderman, the leasing office refuses to increase security, relying on 11pm-5am security and a few new cameras, none facing inside the garage.
For all these issues, I pay $2280 a month for a 2 bed, 2 bath apartment. I won’t be renewing my lease and urge you to find someplace else."

"I lived here for a year, and the experience was disappointing.
• Utility charges are extremely high($600+)
• The AC breaks down every summer, with indoor temperatures reaching 90°F.
• Persistent roach problems despite multiple complaints.
• Maintenance is slow and unresponsive.
Don’t forget to fill the moving out form 60days prior or you’ll have to renew your lease again.
I was relieved when my lease ended. For anyone considering moving in—save yourself the stress and look elsewhere."

"Absolutely terrible experience—wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The utility bills are ridiculously overpriced (mine often hit over $600/month) and it’s never explained. Every summer, the AC stops working, all the vents don’t blow air out and my apartment turned into a sauna with temps hitting 90°F inside. Maintenance is a complete disaster—just a bunch of older guys who slap on lazy temporary fixes instead of actually solving the issues. Roaches were a constant problem, no matter how many times I reported it. The staff is unresponsive, slow, and clearly doesn’t care about residents. On top of that, if you don’t submit your move-out notice exactly 60 days in advance, they automatically renew/extend your lease and trap you. Moving out was the only relief I got—honestly, this place was nothing but stress."

Beyond the functional problems, security is a major concern. Car break-ins are common, with some residents experiencing multiple incidents. Despite community meetings and police involvement, security measures remain inadequate, relying on limited overnight security and a few cameras that do not cover critical areas like the garage. The overall living environment is further degraded by poorly maintained common areas, including overflowing trash rooms and unkempt courtyards.
