Reviews Summary
The U.S. Coast Guard Academy is highly praised as a world-class institution offering a rigorous education and preparing future leaders for dedicated service. Visitors often remark on the beautiful campus and the honor of seeing such a fine establishment. However, some experiences, particularly with short-term programs like AIM, have raised concerns about on-site medical facilities and administrative handling of student issues.
"The Coast Guard Academy, AIM summer program in New London, Connecticut seems that it doesn’t have a properly working infirmary. My 17 year old son during the AIM program got joint pain and was taken to the ER (which was good of them) and all the results were negative, came back the same day to the AIM program and still couldn’t do exercises do to the joint pain. For those reasons he was KICKED OUT immediately and we had to do the impossible in just one or two hours to have them take him to the train station and just drop him at the train station without supervision. He then travel four hours with strangers and be picked up by a relative of mine. We couldn’t pick him up immediately. The plans were to pick him up Friday by me the sixth day at the end of the AIM program. A prepared school would have taken him in the infirmary until he was better again or have him there at the infirmary until I pick him up at the end. The joint pain was do to a simple fever that he got the next day. If you are going to do the AIM program be prepared just in case your son or daughter gets kicked out. Also I don’t think we will not get even a partial refund."

"17 week stay was alright, but hotel staff kept yelling at me the entire time and made me make my bed. Also shared a room with two other people. Food was alright for the price. Heard other guests stay here for four years which is bonkers."

"I had family go to the USCGA, and through them I can give this university 5 stars all the way around. Great bunch of people. It's the service academy that more people should know about. Go Bears! And I don't think you even have to go rowing at 0600 anymore before going to class..."
