The well-maintained hiking trails, particularly the Lone Star Trail, and the opportunity for stargazing are frequently highlighted as major draws. "Took off 3 days to glamp & hike a little at Sam Houston National Park. Beautiful weather, we truly lucked out. Being in the forest was so very sedative, peaceful and relaxing.

With all that's going on in the world we have to slow down, create space, reflect on life, rest, breathe, pray, get clarity, enjoy the present moment, and process things. Then get back in there lol!

Slowing down is not a luxury; it’s a necessity for mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Peace is found in the pause. 🕊✨️

Stay blessed not stressed 🤍🙏"

"This is nice forest which is well maintained close to the Houston city. We did 15 miles of hike on Lone Tara trail, and we underestimated it. There were clear paths, and lots and lots of walking. Saw different kinds of snakes too. Overall a great experience for a Texas hike. I would definitely get mosquito repellent during monsoon season."
