What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Reviews for the NYC Marriage Bureau are mixed, with many praising the efficiency and iconic nature of the location for elopements and civil ceremonies. However, several visitors have reported extremely rude and unprofessional customer service when calling for information, leading to frustration and a negative perception of staff interactions.
"The lady who answered the phone at 8:53 am this morning 12/8/2025 was so rude and unprofessional. She treated me like trash. Don’t let me explain that last week they told me to call back for the status of my request. She yelled at me before I even started talking. No one deserved to be treated like that. Maybe she need an anger management treatment. That was totally unnecessary and unacceptable. Of course I would like to answer back but I’m not just going to lower to her level!"

"As a nyc elopement photographer, I HIGHLY recommend getting married at New York City Marriage Bureau! It is such an iconic place to tie the knot, and there are many stunning photo locations nearby."
Marybeth Rajotte-Schreck
"This are the most rude and unprofessional ppl ever! I called just to asked a question regarding my grandmother's marriage records and they told that they don't give any information on the phone. I tried to explained that I was just trying to verify IF the record was at that office or another office since New York have two different office depending of the place the marriage happened. I was not asking for any personal information or names, it was a simple yes or no question. The lady just keep yelling at me telling me that she wouldn't answer any question and told me to just "go in person". I live in another state and she's expecting me to fly there, expend hundred of dollar to get to them JUST TO VERIFY IF THE RECORDS ARE THERE OR NOT!!!
They're useless and rude. What the purpose of having a customer call line and pay one RUDE useless staff to just tell you to "go there in person". THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!!"
