What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Fun Laboratory offers a visually engaging experience, particularly for those seeking photo opportunities. Visitors often praise the vibrant rooms and props, making it ideal for social media content. However, some find the experience overpriced and lacking in depth, suggesting it's more of a photo studio than an art exhibit.
"Fun experience! Great place to take pictures and just have fun. I enjoyed it a lot!"

"Disclaimer: I don't give 5 stars. Took my girlfriend to the place and we both had a blast. My girlfriend enjoys me taking good pictures of her and this place actually offers many spots for good photo ops. The color themes and lighting really helps to make photos Instagram friendly. The staffs were pretty nice and told us we could stay as long as we needed instead of for only 30 - 60 min. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys taking good photos."

"I really don’t know what the negative reviews are about- this place is wonderful! The main purpose of a pop-up shop is to photograph the rooms, so of course this is what the place will cater to. There are so many cool photo opportunities that make for some great Instagram content, and apparently they have a magic show certain days! Their ball pit is awesome, it’s the most comfortable ball pit I’ve ever been in, and it’s photogenic. I loved it! They have cool props to take pictures with, and a lot of variation. I’d definitely recommend going and checking it out! Obviously it isn’t the biggest exhibit in the world but keep in mind it’s a pop-up. All pop-ups are like this, although I think this surprasses many others and is one of the best pop-ups."

The Art of the Pop-Up Experience
While some visitors expect a traditional art exhibit with deep conceptual meaning, the reality is that these spaces are built for experience and content creation. The rooms are intentionally designed with vibrant colors, unique props, and interesting lighting to maximize photo appeal. This focus on aesthetics means that the 'art' is in the visual output you create, rather than a passive viewing experience.
It's important to approach a pop-up like Fun Laboratory with the right mindset. If you're looking for a place to capture stunning photos and have a fun, lighthearted time, you'll likely enjoy it. However, if you're seeking profound artistic statements or extensive educational content, you might find it falls short.
Maximizing Your Photo Opportunities
Pro-Tip: Don't be afraid to use the provided props! They are there to enhance your photos and add a playful element. Experiment with different poses and angles. The staff are often friendly and may offer suggestions or even help with photos. Consider visiting with a friend or partner who can help you capture the best shots, and be prepared to return the favor.
Remember that lighting is crucial for good photos. While the laboratory is designed with lighting in mind, natural light can also play a role. If possible, try to visit during times when the lighting is most favorable for your desired aesthetic.
Navigating Visitor Expectations
On the other hand, some visitors express disappointment, feeling that the experience is overpriced for what it offers, describing it as 'cheesy' or simply a 'glorified Instagram setup.' These reviews often suggest alternative, more traditional attractions like museums.
The consensus seems to be that if you go in understanding it's a pop-up designed for social media content and fun photo ops, you're more likely to have a positive experience. If you're expecting a traditional art exhibit or a deeply intellectual engagement, you might be underwhelmed.
