What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The NBA Store in NYC is a massive, multi-floor destination packed with merchandise for every NBA fan, offering a dream-like experience with interactive displays and customization options. However, some visitors have encountered issues with the quality of customized items and inconsistent customer service.
"Buy anything you want here but don't get a customized t-shirt. I never thought this could happen to me, but here we go. I got a t-shirt with customized name at this NYC store yesterday, paid $51.34 for a shirt that only looks good for a few hours (please see pictures). And no I didnt wash it or anything, the paint is extremely low quality, I cant believe they charge that much for such low quality shirt. Its not only the quality that made me frustrated. They told me to come back after 1h15mins but it took them more than 2 hours 30mins. The guy who was supposed to do my shirt injured himself so he left, and another guy did his work. I understand that since it was an incident, but you can see how messy that was. I was a tourist and I literally had to walk in the cold to come back and get this shirt and wait for so long and paid that much for this experience. It was unbelievable. I tried so hard to call the physical store right now but they are all busy so I have no idea where to go and ask for help. The online store of course doesnt handle this. I'm not even looking for a refund I just hope they can give me an explanation on the quality and probably a replacement because this is absolutely insane. This is not far from a scam from an official store if I have to be honest."

"NBA Store NYC – A Slam Dunk Stop
The NBA Store in NYC was high on my grandson’s list—and it didn’t disappoint! This place is a dream for any basketball fan. It’s spread out over three floors and packed with everything from jerseys and hats to shoes, balls, collectibles, and team gear from every NBA team. It’s truly a one-stop shop for all things NBA.
My grandson was in heaven. He loved all the interactive displays, life-size player mannequins, and the cool photo ops throughout the store. There’s even a station where you can customize your own jersey or hat, which added a fun personal touch to the experience.
We didn’t feel rushed at all—there’s plenty of space to browse, and even just walking around and soaking it all in was part of the fun. The staff were super friendly and helped us find the right sizes and styles, especially in the youth section.
We ended up leaving with a few great souvenirs and some big smiles. It was a highlight of our NYC trip and definitely a spot I’d recommend to any basketball fan—young or old!"

"Extremely rude employee and terrible customer service!
I visited the NBA Store in Times Square today and had one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve ever had while shopping. It was raining, and I had my reverse-closing umbrella with me — a high-quality, expensive umbrella that closes upside down to keep water contained. When I went to enter, the employee at the door refused to let me in because my umbrella wouldn’t fit into their tiny plastic bag.
I explained that my umbrella is designed not to drip everywhere — the water collects inside and can be dumped out before going inside (which I had already done). He didn’t care and told me I’d need to stand outside in the rain instead. Meanwhile, my husband was already inside looking at T-shirts and a Steph Curry jersey. When he realized I wasn’t with him and asked where I was, the same associate told him, “She’s outside in the rain because of her umbrella.” My husband immediately said, “Oh no, then I’ll just leave.”
So congratulations — you lost a sale. Maybe it wasn’t much to the associate or to the NBA, but in this economy, I’d think customer service and basic respect would still matter.
And here’s the kicker: there were no mats at the door to wipe your feet, and the floor already had wet footprints everywhere. My umbrella wouldn’t have made it worse — in fact, it was specifically designed to prevent dripping.
I completely understand wanting to protect the floors when it’s raining, but this was handled with zero courtesy, zero flexibility, and zero common sense. Do better on your hiring and training, because turning away paying customers — and being rude about it — is not a good look for such a major brand."

Beyond standard jerseys, the store also offers opportunities for customization. You can often get a jersey or t-shirt personalized with your own name or favorite number, adding a unique touch to your NBA memorabilia. Be aware that the quality and turnaround time for customized items have received mixed reviews.

For collectors, the store is a treasure trove of NBA memorabilia, from signed items (though these are rare and expensive) to trading cards, posters, and unique souvenirs. Interactive elements like life-size player mannequins and photo opportunities add to the fun, making it more than just a shopping trip. Even if you're not buying, the sheer volume of NBA culture on display is an experience in itself.
