"Few places capture the magic of New York City in winter quite like The Rink at Rockefeller Center. Nestled beneath the towering skyscrapers and the iconic Rockefeller Christmas Tree, this world-famous ice rink feels straight out of a holiday movie. Whether you’re skating hand-in-hand under the twinkling lights or simply watching from the sidelines with a cup of hot cocoa, the atmosphere here is pure enchantment.
The rink itself may be small compared to others in the city, but that’s exactly what gives it its charm. It feels intimate and timeless, framed by golden flags and the Art Deco brilliance of Rockefeller Plaza. As the music plays and the lights reflect off the ice, you can’t help but feel like you’re part of something iconic — a New York tradition that has welcomed visitors for generations.
Skating here isn’t just about gliding on ice — it’s about soaking in the moment. Around you, tourists take photos, couples laugh as they stumble together, and children marvel at the magic of their first time on skates. Every turn of the rink feels like a scene from a Christmas postcard.
Even if you’re not skating, the vibe is worth experiencing. The nearby cafés, shops, and the magnificent tree during the holidays create an unforgettable festive energy. Visiting the rink is one of those quintessential New York moments that reminds you why the city feels so alive and full of wonder."

"We had an absolute blast skating! We got there 10 minutes earlier than our assigned time and the staff let us right in. We quickly changed into our skates and left our stuff in the lockers. 30 minutes passed by and the Zamboni came out, we love the Zamboni! It took around 10 minutes and we were back in. They did give us an extra 20 minutes due to that. Amazing! We did have trouble with the lockers but it’s because we didn’t follow directions on how to lock them properly. The girl in charge had a lot of patience and kindly helped us. Couldn’t have had a better experience in every way! Merry Christmas!"

"Like many, ice skating under the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree was a bucket list experience that did not disappoint. We went at 11 pm thinking it might be less crowded, but the popularity of the rink keeps it crowded throughout the night. Staff at the top gate did not communicate well about what time slots should be entering, which set us back, as did some broken skates. Otherwise, all other staff were very friendly and helpful, and the process to getting on the ice was fairly smooth. Despite the crowds, we were surrounded by cheerful people who were all enjoying themselves in the iconic atmosphere. Quite a few malfunctioning lockers should be addressed as should the exit pathway out of the building, which was long and very unclear."
