What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise The Ride for its incredibly talented and entertaining hosts and street performers, offering a unique and lively way to see NYC. However, a significant drawback is the lack of air conditioning, making summer tours uncomfortably hot for many. Some also note that the humor can be edgy.
"NO AIR CONDITIONING!!!!!!!! DO NOT GO ON THE RIDE IN THE SUMMER!!!
We had an awful experience on the Ride this week.
The performers were absolutely incredible very important to say! They are extremely talented, super funny, and tried their best to make the experience enjoyable.
However we took the Ride as a way to get out of the heat and see the city..we assumed the bus would be air conditioned on a hot summer day in the middle of July. We assumed incorrectly. There was not a drop of air conditioning on the bus..it was hotter in the bus than outside. Felt like we were cooking in a hot metal box. My boyfriend and I felt faint and dehydrated by the end of the 45 minutes ..which we were patiently waiting already for the ride to end because of how unbearable it was.
I again made the assumption this was a mistake or malfunction as I could not fathom that a tour bus would not have air conditioning so I emailed their customer service with ticket details, times, and information about the bus. They emailed back saying they checked everything out and that our experience is up to their standard they expect. Meaning there isn’t even MEANT TO BE air conditioning on the Ride. And it’s acceptable for the performer’s shirt to have entirely changed colors from the sweat.
I am very disappointed with our experience and for such a HIGH PRICE it’s unacceptable that this is their standard to not have air conditioning on their buses."

"The Ride was a fun and unique experience! Touring the city on a bus with floor-to-ceiling windows, while interacting with performers on the streets, made it feel more like a live show than a regular sightseeing tour. The energy was high, the hosts were entertaining, and seeing street performers suddenly break into dance or music right outside the bus was really cool.
However, one downside was that despite the fun atmosphere, some jokes made by guests on board were inappropriate. Even though the staff reminded the other staff to be respectful, he still made offensive remarks related to nationality and race -such as Turkey instead of Turkiye- which was disappointing and out of place in such a public and diverse setting.
Aside from that, it was a lively and memorable way to explore the city from a different perspective. With a bit more care taken to ensure respectful behavior from all guests, it would be a fantastic experience all around."

"Tour guides were great and funny. Took about an hour and it was the right amount of time. I’m not a big tour person but this was great. Shout out to the young lady from New Zealand that works for the Ride we spoke to for a while outside of the bus that was super sweet!"

The Unique Bus Experience
This innovative approach transforms a typical bus tour into a dynamic theatrical event. The bus itself is a moving theater, bringing the energy of New York City directly to its passengers. The technology integrated into the bus enhances the sensory experience, making you feel like you're part of the action unfolding both inside and outside the vehicle. It's a truly unique way to explore Midtown Manhattan and Times Square.
However, it's crucial to note a significant drawback mentioned by many visitors: the lack of air conditioning. During warmer months, the interior can become extremely hot, significantly impacting comfort. This is a recurring point of dissatisfaction, especially given the ticket price.
The Performers: Hosts and Street Talent
Complementing the hosts are the street performers who pop up unexpectedly at various points along the route. These professionals, ranging from dancers and musicians to actors, interact directly with the bus, creating spontaneous and memorable moments. They might break into a flash mob, perform a musical number, or engage in comedic skits, all choreographed to surprise and delight the passengers.
The synergy between the hosts and street performers is what makes The Ride so special. It's a carefully orchestrated yet seemingly spontaneous production that brings the city to life. While the performers are consistently praised for their talent and professionalism, some reviews mention that the humor can be a bit risqué or 'American-style,' which might not appeal to everyone.
