What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Skylark is celebrated for its absolutely breathtaking Manhattan skyline views, making it a top choice for a special evening. While the ambiance and cocktails are generally well-received, some visitors have encountered frustrating service issues and found certain food items to be overpriced for their portion size. Despite these drawbacks, the unparalleled vistas often make it a worthwhile experience for those seeking that classic New York City rooftop vibe.
"I was genuinely excited when we arrived. The long, dimly lit hallway leading to the elevator created this mysterious, almost theatrical build-up. Unfortunately, that excitement vanished the moment we were seated at what was basically an end table jammed beside the service entrance. Every time a server pushed through the curtains no more than three inches behind my chair I felt a full gust of air. It didn’t even feel like a space meant to hold a dining table.
I went back to the host stand and politely asked if we could be moved. They told me the only other options were high-top tables and that the couch-style seating was reserved for larger parties. That made sense to me at the time—there were only two of us, and we were more than happy to take a high-top just to get out of the service doorway.
But then we sat there and watched multiple couples—just two people each—being seated on the couch-style section we were told was strictly for larger groups. Meanwhile, we waited another 30–35 minutes with no update and no attempt to move us. Nothing.
At that point, we asked for the check and left.
The only bright spot was Helen—she was fantastic, warm, and truly the highlight of an otherwise disappointing experience."

"Made a stop to the Skylark Rooftop Bar on a Friday evening and this was a great start the NYC weekend. The food was great. Buffalo chicken sliders and fries were a nice filler. The spicy ketchup was plus too. Of course the views of midtown Manhattan from here are worth the visit. Good cocktails and deejays. I love the vibe of this location. I know some were disappointed with service, but we we were treated great and had no reservation. We actually was told we could have a high top table for a short while due to a later reservation for others, however, we were later told to stay as long as we want and we did! You gotta vibe at this spot when in Midtown. Note that this location is only Monday thru Friday unless you have it reserved for the weekend."

"Stunning views, but frustrating service
The views from The Skylark rooftop are absolutely breathtaking, offering sweeping panoramas of Midtown Manhattan — easily the highlight of the experience.
Unfortunately, the service was very disappointing. Despite having a reservation for a birthday party and specifying the importance of rooftop outside seating, we were initially told that no outdoor reservations were available and were offered lounge seating instead. After much discussion, we were finally seated outside — only to notice reserved tables contradicting what staff had told us.
Service at the tables is limited — you must order at the bar, and there is very little privacy as people crowd around to take photos, which can feel intrusive during special occasions.
The 2 stars reflect the incredible views, but the service, reservation management, and overall experience were frustrating and poorly handled."
