What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Franklin Falls is widely praised for its stunning waterfall and accessible, family-friendly trail. Visitors love the rewarding hike and the opportunity to get close to the mist. Some find navigation tricky, and winter visits require specific gear and permits.
"If you're in Washington and want a hike that delivers without destroying your knees, you have to check out Franklin Falls Trail. It’s a pretty easy trail, which is fantastic because it's super family-friendly (and pet friendly!) but the best part, it’s not just a flat boring walk! It’s got this steady, gradual incline that’s enough to actually get your heart racing a little bit. You definitely get a good, satisfying sweat going, so you feel like you earned that view. It’s the ideal mini-workout with a massive reward.
I recommend getting there early to avoid the crowd. We arrived at 8 am and it was perfect with only a handful of people. We finished in a little over an hr and heading back to our car, we passed by quite a few people heading to the trail.
The waterfall is absolutely stunning! You can usually get right down close and feel the mist, which is awesome. If you want an accessible, beautiful nature escape that’s both easy and slightly challenging, this is your trail. You won't regret it."

"Getting here was tricky! Don’t trust your g-map. It will keep looping you around. Follow the instructions on the site and screenshot it write it down. Aside that, the trail was easy and lots of great spots to take photos! (Dog owners need to pick up and take their poop bags with them!)"

"Franklin Falls is a beautiful and relatively easy hike with a stunning payoff at the end—a gorgeous waterfall! The trail is well-maintained and great for families or casual hikers. You walk through peaceful forest scenery, and then the view of the waterfall at the end is absolutely worth it. It’s powerful, picturesque, and makes for great photos. Highly recommend if you're looking for a refreshing nature escape that’s not too far from the city!"
