The restored home, working gristmill, and engaging docents are frequently highlighted as positives, though some find the admission price a bit high for the size of the attraction.

"A fabulous little Rhode Island treasure. There was plenty of parking across the street from the property. The welcome center was small and had a nice array of items in the gift shop. The property is well maintained and beautiful. You can learn about the property by a self-guided tour that has QR codes available around the property that connects you to audio relating to that area. When available, guided tours with a docent are very helpful and interesting. Bill was our docent and he was very engaging and polite. My family with six kids really enjoyed interacted with him. He was very knowledgeable and yet quick to ask if we had any question. The gardens and trails are beautiful. This place is an absolute treasure and I highly recommend it. One of Gilbert Stuart’s original paintings of George Washington is hanging in the Rhode Island state house in providence. You can see it for free in the governor’s ballroom."
