Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Smith College Museum of Art for its free admission and diverse, impressive collection spanning various eras and cultures. The comfortable benches are a highlight for extended contemplation. However, some reviews mention a perceived lack of staff engagement and a disorganized display of artworks, leading to a less cohesive viewing experience for some.

"A small museum to visit, It’s free to all! Many people mentioned about their paintings which are very true. But I noticed the benches in the exhibition hall are very unique and very comfortable to sit on. I spent a half day there and tried all the benches in my pictures.

There are a few art works triggered my deeper thinking on how we look at things, from different angles you will get different conclusion for the same object. Your perceptions are much influenced by people around you, big time! Be very aware about that!"

Rong Zhang

"Beautiful collection available for free viewing. Plenty of opportunities for hands on art experience. Welcoming staff."

C B

"Nice small art museum with an impressive range of art from throughout history, and around the world. I especially enjoyed the medieval art collection, and the ancient Greek pottery. Although there were just a few pots on display, this allowed me to really look at them closely and appreciate them more. (A big contrast to the British museum in London, where there were so many pots my eyes just glazed over😊). Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area."
